We set up and run non-formal programmes, keeping close to the needs and aspirations
of people in communities. We believe that - with only a little help - we can
all learn from each other which is sometimes much more lasting than formal
education can provide. Here are a few remarks from participants that underline
our philosophy.
“It's about learning about each other, and being able to break
down barriers…and communicating in a positive way.”
Diane (participant on ‘Bus Roots')
“
I think it's good to have a course like this because normal working
class people like us need to go to Brussels to see the EU Commission and
how it's run. It's important to keep an eye on them!”
John
(on our ‘Count Us In' programme)
“
It was a wonderful experience. I would do it again. We all get so used to
our own lives and it's good to see other perspectives”
Angela (speaking about the ‘Middlewood Citizenship Project')
“I've learned that people don't need teachers – they
just need to believe in each other and anything can happen. People are generous
and caring – conventional education doesn't value this enough.”
Billy (inspired by the ‘Bus Roots' programme)
“Although I don't usually say it, I feel it's a privilege
to be with such a group of people.”
Mike (‘Middlewood Citizenship
Project')
